My entries in the ADV
My entries in the ADV
For proper Adventure work, what could be better than an actual ADVENTURE, as in 2006 KTM 950 Adventure?
And on the dual/sport front my old trooper '86 XL600R with 'a few' changes. This bike has been many things since I bought her new in Spring of 1986. A commuter, a NETRA Enduro bike, super motard, and now back to it's best role as a very competent D/S bike.

I want to take a nap on that suede saddle.

Re: My entries in the ADV
I usually take a nap after getting tossed off one.

I wanted a rich uncle, but I got an Uncle Rich.

Re: My entries in the ADV
Out for some Fall color ADV riding today.

Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I├ö├ç├Â
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

I love that bikes mission statement and execution EXCEPT for the functionless and fugly beakJackPiner wrote: here's my ADV BMW

Shirley someone makes a kit to turn it into a proper looking German motorcycle

Re: My entries in the ADV
The 'beak' is very functional.
It directed air to the oil cooler under the headlight.
Sheesh.. you think they put that stuff there just to look cool?

Finally have the Transalp I've always wanted. 1990 model. I just added the full exhaust and Metzler Karoo 3 tires. Just need to have the Corbin seat recovered and she'll be ready to go.

The ADV thing is starting to call me...The though of multi day touring rides is starting to appeal to me.
Re: My entries in the ADV
Think we have enough people here now to do a weekend tour of the puppy dog trail or something.

I bet we'd be the first group to come into Rutland banging bars on 500 pound bikes while screaming at each otherhub98 wrote:Think we have enough people here now to do a weekend tour of the puppy dog trail or something.

Re: My entries in the ADV
New class at the vintage ride?!?
Re: My entries in the ADV
Had a real nice ADV ride today with two other Vintage racers, KDXKevin and XRsMostly. About 90 miles of smiles out there with a good mix of rural twisty blacktop, dirt roads and some 'other' surfaces as well! Good variety of bikes too. KTM 950 ADV, two Honda Transalps' and a '16 Ducati MultiStrada.
Adv bikes are just so versatile and a hell of a lot of FUN. Here's the morning shot before we hit the saddles...

And here's during and after!
Thankfully the multistrada knew its place.

Re: My entries in the ADV
Yes the Duc MultiStrada was piloted by an ex road racer with limited off road experience... and 90/10 tires.
Not always a formula for success
But he means well...

Did my spring wake up on the big ADV bike this morning. Always fun to start pondering the trips planned and new areas to
explore. Here's to a great 2021 riding season!

Re: My entries in the ADV
My buddy Joe and other club members have been doing the ADV thing for years. In the Summer of 2020 when Joe told me of his plan to do the NEBDR I bought a 2006 KLR 650. Threw some parts at it and spooned on new tires. Rode it a couple of times and did the NEBDR with him. It was a lot of fun and a much needed get away at the time.
Sold the KLR this year and bought a 2021 CRF450L the end of March. Did some day trips with it this spring and then 3 of us did the Cross PA trail in June. Another great time and a lot of fun. Think I'm hooked. lol
