Shinko 216MX Fat Tire front
Anybody use the Shinko 216MX Fat Tire? I picked one up along with a MT16 for my KTM 300. I usually get a M59 front. Wondering about the handling characteristics off a wider taller front tire. Any input is appreciated.

Re: Shinko 216MX Fat Tire front
A buddy had one on his KTM 200 I tried and it worked well at a muddy fun run last year. It kind of numbs the feel of the front end but I was never did anything I didn't like to not trust it and I was pushing it pretty hard.madktm1984 wrote:Anybody use the Shinko 216MX Fat Tire? Best front tire ever. I run it on all my bikes. You will not be disappointed.
Also exact same tire as the Golden Tyre Fatty. Just has 'S's' instead of 'G's' in the molding. They make it for Golden Tyre.
And you can't go wrong with an MT16 on the rear. Perfect combo.

Extreme Offroad/Enduro/Desert tire - Taller, fuller profile navigates through rocks, trees and square edge terrain with ease - Split tread pattern cleans out wheel and offers precise point and go control - This dirt bike tire is tube type - This dirt bike tire is R rated for speeds up to 106 mph - FIM Approved - Available in the following dirt bike tire sizes: 90/100-21
Brand:Ôö¼├íShinko
So sound like would have been good at Clarkie's and KPTR event rocks

Re: Shinko 216MX Fat Tire front
This thread is a bit old, but I have some experience with both the GoldenTyre GT216AA and the Shinko 216MX, both in the 90/100-21 size. Both "Fatty" tires will definitely raise your front end ride height a bit and slow your steering, but they offer a super plush feel in rocky terrain - but you may have to re-tune your chassis to get some steering prowess back (raise the fork tubes in the clamps, or raise the rear).
The main difference that I found was that the Shinko wears faster and it also sheds side knobs fairly quickly, whereas I had no such issue with the GoldenTyre.
One interesting point is that Shinko offers a compromise "Chubby" 90/90-21 size, with the same width, but a shorter sidewall - and the 90/90 size has reinforcing ribs on the side knobs - whereas the 90/100 does not. I have a new Shinko 90/90 ready to mount, but I have no ride experience with it yet.
