KTM 250 Exhaust Flange

I just got a 250 and was wondering if you guys have ever wished you had an exhaust Flange protector?
the design from 200 to 250 is different, it wasn't needed on the 200.

Is it supposed to be a collar to protect the outside? I know the inside ovaling is always an issue. If it works definitely a good investment as the 250/300 exhaust flange has to be matched to the cylinder, you cant buy a replacement flange.
