Stoked to ride in Pachaug!

We rode it last Saturday and we saw at least a dozen hunters, and from what we heard DEP was on the prowl as well. Good thing I wore my orange gear!

The weather Wednesday allowed the first Pachaug romp of the year.No ice,very little snow and plenty of water made for 45 miles of fabulous early season conditions.My "new to me" 350xcf-w was a surprise performer.My goal for 2018 is 3000 offroad miles.I hope to ride with many of you this year!

Whats the deal with loop currently as far as arrowing goes. Last time I rode it ( a few years ago now) there were sections where you could get lost and stray a bit. Dont want to upset anyone local. Is the old NETRA Route sheet still accurate?

The old NETRA routesheet is definitely NOT accurate and should not be used. It puts you onto land that we're not welcome on anymore.

The arrows are decent but, honestly, I'm not sure if the Central Cycle Club maintains the arrowing anymore. Best bet is to hook up with someone who knows the loop. After one or two trips, it's pretty easy to remember and make your way on your own.

Good Time Wednesday!I told the crew I had paperwork to do this afternoon.Truth be told,KTM Bob,Army Nick and I tore off another 60 miles in the waterlogged Pachaug State Forest.Serious fun on great conditions;now that was a day well lived!

Did you notice the logging in the area of the State Police Gun Range?

Logging activity on Lawrence Road.Nothing major.Dive!,Dive!,Dive!;those trails had a river running through them.Blow downs here and there made things interesting.A chilly but great day of riding!

SAVE THE RIDING IN PACHAUG!!

Hello NETRA Members,

I need your help and action now to save the legal riding in Pachaug State Forest. Pachaug has been selected as the site for the new Connecticut State Police gun range. The exclusion zone around the range would shut down a huge portion of our legal riding there. We support the CSP but not the location of this range.

I need you to go to the link below and voice your opinion. Your message will go to high-ranking people so please be polite and professional. We have provided some suggested talking points for you if you'd like to use them.

I also e-mail Linda Orange seeing as she represents Colchester and was interviewed on TV last night. She sounded like she was in favor of the range. We don't need a gun range in Pachaug and CT can't afford to pay out $20 million for something that has cheaper alteratives.

30=60 today.I had high hopes that some snow would have melted in the woods of Pachaug by today.Man,was I wrong.As soon as I left North Stonington,the snow was everywhere.A posse of renegade quad guys(coolers armed and ready)mixed the snow and dirt together improving conditions here and there to tolerable.It took as much energy to ride 30 miles in the snow as it usually does to click off 60 on a good day.Fun factor-70,down from the usual 95.
